Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was born in Cuttack, Odisha on 23rd January 1897. He ranked second in the matriculation examination and fourth in the Indian Civil Services (ICS) examination. He quit his ICS job and came back to India from England in 1921. He joined India's freedom struggle movement. He was a member of the Indian National Congress (INC). He introduced the famous slogan 'Jai Hind'. He revamped the Indian National Army (INA).
Netaji established Azad Hind Fauj, a military regiment designed to counter the British. He was the first one to address Mahatma Gandhi as Father of the Nation. Bose inspired millions of youths to join the struggle for independence with socialist beliefs and thoughts. His most famous slogan was "It is blood alone that can pay the price of freedom. Give me blood & I will give you freedom.' Netaji had once quoted that ‘Reality is, after all, too big for our frail understanding to fully comprehend. Nevertheless, we have to build our life on the theory which contains the maximum truth.’
The birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, on January 23rd, will be celebrated as 'Parakram Diwas' every year, was announced by Ministry of Culture. Ministry of Culture held a high-level committee, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in a befitting manner national & international level this year and from now onwards Netaji’s birthday will be celebrated as ‘Parakram Diwas.
