Have you ever asked any teacher why they show up to work every day? If you have, you probably heard something like “for my students” and because my kids are my purpose.
Most educators are selfless in their pursuit of a bright, promising future for their learners. When students score well on projects and exams, demonstrate critical thinking and display signs of empathy and compassion, teachers are happiest and happy teachers will directly lead to a happy classroom.
Happy teachers produce better performing and high achieving students who lead to grateful, supportive parents, and who doesn’t want that?
Happiness and a sense of purpose go hand in hand. Technology cannot make up for an inspiring and motivated teacher who can be the pulse of her classroom. It is not smartboards that can create ripples of happiness, it is a caring and a happy teacher who touches the lives of 50 robust children and who can spread sunshine as the essential ingredient of happiness.
To make the classroom happy one should remember that not only should student happiness be the aim of education, but the teacher’s happiness should be the aim of education.‘A hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank but the world may be a better place because I made a difference in the life of a child – Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’
